“Arguably the year’s most exciting UK esports event is ESL One Birmingham, and fans seem to agree. The event sold out in just six hours, that’s all the day tickets, weekend tickets and premium tickets covering the three day event. Gone.
Priced from £14 for a day ticket up to £129 for a premium weekend pass, ESL UK sold them all. It’s now looking at reworking the seating plan and areas to try and include more spectators.
James Dean – ESL UK managing director, said: “The support from the UK community has been absolutely incredible, we knew there were definitely some passionate fans out there that had always been willing to travel Europe, but we didn’t think we’d set any records over the past couple of days. A huge congratulations and a massive thank you from ESL to the scene, now it’s over to us to make sure this is one of the best ESL One events yet!”
Announced just 3 days ago, the ESL One Birmingham is the first ESL One event and Dota 2 Major to be held in the UK. Taking place on 25-27 May this year, it will see twelve world-class teams doing battle for their share of both a $1m prize pool and 1,500 qualifying points for The Invitational 8.” – MCVUK
